God has equipped each of us to serve in some capacity.  Christianity is not a spectator sport -- God calls us into action.   Below are a few of the opportunities to serve at Joy.

  1. Altar Guild -- prepares the Sanctuary for services by setting up Communion, changing banners and altar cloths and caring for them.

  2. Women of Joy --  is associated with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.  They meet monthly for Bible Study and look for specific ways to be in Mission.

  3. Choir/Praise Team -- God has gifted people with musical abilities that are used to help the congregation Praise the Lord.

  4. Leadership Team -- are elected by the congregation and they meet monthly to carry out the business of the Church.  The Leadership Team consists of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and five members at large.

  5. Properties -- care for the Church property.  You may use your skills to mow the yard, replace a water heater, paint a wall, or the many other tasks that need to be done around the Church

  6. Education -- share Biblical lessons with students of all ages in classroom settings.

  7. Elders -- assist the pastor in the spiritual care of the Congregation.

  8. Ushers/Greeters --welcome people to worship.

  9. Youth -- meet every Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM and Sunday mornings at 9:15.  Youth workers help our young people find ways to serve the Lord and celebrate their faith.

  10. Mens Group -- meet every Saturday morning for Bible Study and we have taken on various tasks around the Church.

  11. Quilters -- use their talents to put together quilts which are sent to mission fields.

  12. Technology -- We need volunteers to run the computer and the sound system for worship.

  13. Joyful Friends --  is a group of seasoned Christians who gather for fellowship activities throughout the year.

Shalom Shop is a ministry of local Churches to help people in need.   Used clothing and household goods are donated to the shalom shop and they are sorted, cleaned, mended and repaired to be sold in the store.   Joy Lutheran Church operates the store every Tuesday afternoon and the 4th Saturday of each month.   Part of the proceeds from the store and returned to the congregations of the community that provide volunteers at the store.  The Proceeds are then used by the local congregation to help individuals who need assistance.  The rest of the proceeds are used by Shalom in carrying out Mission opportunities to people in need in the community

Path 2 Home

Community Churches provide a place for displaced families in the community.   Homeless families are housed in temporary settings and volunteers from local churches assist in providing meals and manning the facility when families return from schools, jobs or looking for jobs.

Home Delivered Meals

We need drivers who Deliver Meals to those with mobility problems.  Joy Lutheran Church serves by providing volunteers who deliver the meals to the homes on two routes in the community every five weeks.

Several of Joy Lutheran Members serve in a variety of ways in the local community.  They serve as Christians -- carrying Jesus in all aspects of life -- witnessing to His love, care and concern for all people.

Around the World

Joy Lutheran Church seeks out ways of reaching the Lost with the saving message of Jesus Christ.   Financially, we support several missionaries in various parts of the world and we contribute the Mission and Work of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.  We continue to look for opportunities to be involved in hands on world Mission ministries.
